Northern Trust Doubles Investment through Loaned Executive Program

beth gallagherNorthern Trust, already the number one corporate contributor to United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, is doubling their impact in another way through their generous sponsorship of the United Way Loaned Executive Program.

Having supported the LE program with one Loaned Executive for more than 10 years, this year, Northern Trust is sponsoring two Loaned Executives in order to provide United Way with additional human resources during its critical campaign season.

“A commitment to our communities has been a part of the company’s culture since its inception,” Beth Gallagher, Second Vice President of Community Affairs for Northern Trust, says of the company’s contributions to United Way. “Community involvement is important to us, not only because sharing resources with those who need them is a good thing, but also because we’re building stronger communities where our employees live and work and where our clients are located.”

This summer, Beth will be one of the United Way Loaned Executives sponsored by Northern Trust. She will assist with fundraising for United Way, speaking at corporations and also assisting with Northern Trust’s internal employee campaign.

Having worked at a United Way funded social service provider, Youth Outreach Services, before moving into her current role in corporate philanthropy, Beth knows well the importance United Way dollars can make to a community.

“I saw firsthand the great need for additional health and human services resources in many Chicago communities and witnessed how United Way dollars could help ensure that Youth Outreach Services would be able to continue serving some of our area’s most vulnerable young people,” Beth says.

Beth is also looking forward to the leadership development component that will be beneficial to her as an individual as well as to Northern Trust as a company.

“I know I’ll be honing my communication and public speaking skills and meet many new people as an LE. These are great assets for me as I continue to grow in my career. I consider that an added bonus on top of having a new way for me to get involved with the United Way and help generate the resources needed to strengthen our communities. And that is very exciting to me.”
