The United Way Latino Community Outreach Committee invites you to Unidos en Acción: The launch of the United Way Latino Initiative. The event is being sponsored by ComEd.

The United Way Latino Initiative will focus on helping Latino youth become successful adults by supporting programs that center on families and communities. The Initiative will reach out to parents, agencies, churches, schools, law enforcement, government officials and Latino youth to help create a sustainable plan for Latino young people, their families and community. The goal of the Initiative is to ensure that Latino youth understand and value education, create a healthy identity that bridges two cultures and take on healthy family and social roles.

Helmets to Hard Hats is a program designed to help returning veterans obtain meaningful career opportunities. The program represents many of the construction trades but is not limited to construction or Union jobs. The goal is to find employment for the men and women who have honorably served our country.

Helmets to Hard Hats is hosting a Job Fair on August 28 at Crystal Gardens Navy Pier, 700 E. Grand Ave. If you have clients that fit this description, there are immediate positions available through corporate partners who are providing employment and career opportunities.
